Holy Orders

If you feel called to serve God and His Church in a special way, there is a profound and life-changing sacrament available to you here in our church. The sacrament of Holy Orders is a gift that enables men to dedicate their lives to the service of God’s people, either as deacons, priests, or bishops. Through this sacrament, individuals are empowered by the Holy Spirit to act in the person of Christ in their ministry.

If you sense a calling to the priesthood or diaconate, we encourage you to explore this possibility prayerfully and speak with our parish priest. He can help guide you in discerning God’s will for your life and connect you with the diocesan vocations director. Whether you are in the early stages of considering this path or are ready to take the next steps, we are here to support and pray for you.

The sacrament of Holy Orders is conferred through the laying on of hands and prayer of consecration by the bishop, who invokes the Holy Spirit to set the candidate apart for sacred ministry. This sacrament prepares deacons to serve through preaching, teaching, and works of charity; priests to minister through the sacraments and shepherd God’s people; and bishops to oversee and guide the Church.

If you are not called to the ordained ministry but would like to support vocations, we encourage you to pray for those discerning and serving in Holy Orders. You can also join us for special events, such as ordinations or vocations retreats, to celebrate and encourage those who have answered God's call.
